Integral Formation
Integral FormationSM is the harmonious development of all dimensions of the human person. Gateway Academy guides students to realize their full potential, by focusing on the following four areas of formation:
HUMAN: The human person is more than a memory bank that requires input. Human formation focuses on forging integrity of character which is the true foundation of joy.
ACADEMIC: The academic program leads students to the highest level of intellectual formation. Throughout the curriculum, your child is challenged to exercise each facet of his intellect: analysis, synthesis, relation, and expression.
SPIRITUAL: The religion curriculum is centered on learning the Catholic faith in its fullness. The true fruit of knowledge of theology is based in a personal love for Jesus Christ. The study of the Christian faith is complemented by the encouragement of a life of grace through prayer, the sacraments and retreats suited to the student’s age.
APOSTOLIC: As followers of Christ, students at Gateway Academy are called to serve others; students participate in individual and group apostolic service program. Apostolic formation covers both the theory and practice of apostolic and especially the formation of an “apostolic heart”.
Gender Specific Education
International studies and Catholic tradition consistently affirm the advantages of gender specific education. For this reason, Gateway Academy educates boys and girls separately from fourth grade through high school. Students are challenged in a nurturing environment that best serves the specific learning styles of each gender, providing preparation for the finest colleges and universities. Our approach is modeled on over 150 institutions in thirteen countries, directed by the Legionaries of Christ. Gateway was the first school in the St. Louis area to have single gender education on a co-ed campus. The benefits of gender separate education can be found in the articles below.

Gateway Academy's Preschool Program combines the learning blocks of integral formation with Montessori methods for a unique program that cultivates the emotional, physical, academic and spiritual development of its students. Small class sizes and personalized attention foster a balanced atmosphere that is cheerful, nourishing and orderly. The classroom is filled with manipulatives and hands-on activities because learning at this age level is an up-close and tactile experience. The environment encourages young students to explore their own curiosities and challenges them to master language and math concepts. Children develop the love for learning and social skills which are the foundation for future success.
