Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:6-7

Father, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

I would like to ask you all to say some prayers for my sister, Elizabeth, and her 7 week old, Michael. Michael had surgery Tuesday and they found a tumor on his vocal cords. They shaved it down as far as they safely could, but it will keep growing back. He will need several surgeries to keep it under control, and right now it looks like every 4-6 weeks he will have surgery. I’m not sure exactly what it is called that he has, but it is very rare in such a young child. There are no other cases of this in the entire St. Louis area, and right now there is only 1 nurse down at Children’s that has experience with Michael’s condition. This will affect Michael throughout his life as far as speaking goes and breathing issues. He was discharged yesterday morning and was re-admitted late last night and is now in the Pediatric ICU at St. John’s. He was scoped this morning and it showed that he has quite a bit of internal post-op swelling. So, he is on breathing treatments with inhaled steroids, along with IV steroids. My sister is having a very hard time accepting and dealing with all of this. Please keep them in your prayers. Thanks.

I'd like everyone to pray for an event I am planning. It is the 2nd annual "Keeping Kids Safe and Families Strong" walk on April 12th in Forest Park. Our event goal was 963 participants, one for every substantiated case of abuse in the St. Louis area. Despite radio coverage, flyers, internet registration and much word of mouth, it looks like attendance may fall well short of this goal. I'd like everyone to pray for increased attendance as all the proceeds benefit Children's Advocacy Services a community outreach program that helps children who have been victimized by trauma.
