Head Coach: Joe Gresham

This was a outstanding year for the 2007 Gateway Academy Cross Country Team. The season started out slow but student runners picked up on my way of training. Idid not want to work them to hard at the beginning of the season. Their training consisted of distance  speed and hill workout. The team completed in seven local and district meets during the cross country season. The team consisted one female and six males runners. Each runner improved over the course of the season with lowering their personal times. The turning point as a team, came at the St. Francis Borgia meet where the boys team ran in the JV division and placed six. Our only female runner Elaine Gill was running very well until she fractured her leg at the Fred Lyon meet with her best time of the season.  She was a state qualifier in 2006 and preformed well. The boys team, led by Adam Hofstetter placed 6th with 158 points at the district meet. Adam placed 3rd with a time of 18:22. He then qualified for the state meet in Jefferson city MO. He place 63rd at the state meet with a great showing. The team is young and will be even better next year with every runner returning. One goal for the runner is to go to state and compete as a team.
