REGNUM CHRISTI
Regnum Christi is a worldwide group of Catholic lay missionaries affiliated with the Legionaries of Christ who dedicate themselves to love Christ, serve people and build the Church. Regnum Christi is at the service of the Church, enjoys full ecclesiastical approval, and is praised and recommended by the Holy Father. Regnum Christi members contribute to spreading Christ's message by undertaking personal, organized apostolic activity. Fr. Maciel established Regnum Christi in 1959. For more information, visit www.RegnumChristi.org.

Background
Movements are a relatively recent phenomenon in the Church. They are also a source of great hope for the renewal of the Church and an important factor in carrying out the New Evangelization project launched by Pope John Paul II.  Each lay Movement, in its own unique way, provides a specific path for the laity to actively live out their baptismal promises.  When Pope John Paul II called members of the many new movements and communities to join him in Rome for Pentacost in 1998, fifty-three groups were represented.  Each one of these movements, Pope John Paul II said, "deserves to be appreciated for the particular contribution it makes to the life of the Church."  In addressing the new movements, the Holy Father called them a "sign of the new springtime of evangelization foretold by the Second Vatican Council."

Regnum Christi is an apostolic lay movement established in 1959, with more than 65,000 members in 34 countries around the world.  It includes lay men and women, as well as deacons and parish priests.  It contributes to spreading Christ's message to humanity by undertaking personal, organized apostolic activity.  Regnum Christi is an association for the promotion of the Christian vocation (Cf. Code of Canon Law, 215) within the Church and at the service of the Church, and has been praised and recommended by several Holy Fathers (including the present one) and a large number of bishops.  In cooperation with the Legion of Christ, the members of Regnum Christi work above all in the following areas of apostolate: missions (like the annual Holy Week MegaMissions), the human and Christian promotion of the socially more needy groups (such as Catholic World Missions and Helping Hand Medical Missions), the spread of Catholic doctrine, the education of young people and educational and teaching institutions (such as Gateway), the advancement of the family (such as programs offered through the Center for Family Development and the Family Leadership Series), the mass media (National Catholic Register, Faith and Family, and Catholic.net), and cooperation with diocesan priests.

Regnum Christi is characterized by a keen sense of mission as well as a sense of freedom, joyful faith and personal conviction in its members.  It encourages their initiative and reminds them of their responsibility, rooted in Baptism, to make their faith the active principle of every aspect of their everyday life - personal, professional, social and family.  Gateway Academy was founded by members of Regnum Christi and sponsored by the Legionaries of Christ.  Some members of the faculty and staff are members of Regnum Christi; many are not. There is not, nor has there ever been, any requirement that faculty or staff be a member of Regnum Christi, because membership is truly a personal decision.  Neither is there any requirement that parents holding leadership positions in the parent organization, GAPA, or be members of Regnum Christi.  The motto of Regnum Christi is "Love Christ. Serve people. Build the Church."

FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING
Have you ever wondered why we end our prayers at Gateway Academy with “Christ our King; Thy Kingdom Come”?  It serves as a reminder to the whole school community that all things begin and end in Christ.  It’s also a special credo of the Legionaries of Christ that directs Gateway, and the lay Regnum Christi movement, from which it takes its Latin name.

It seems fitting, then, that the Catholic Church’s feast of Christ the King has always had a special significance for the Legion, its schools and other apostolates, such as Familia, ConQuest and Challenge.  Celebrated on the last Sunday in November, it marks the end of the liturgical year and signifies Christ’s central place in salvation history.  Wherever there is a Legionary or Regnum Christi presence, the feast of Christ the King is celebrated in a significant way.

A truly unique experience, Family Honor is the only program of its kind dealing with the transition into adulthood that involves both student and parent.  Created to help provide opportunities for parents and children to connect on important life values, Family Honor places a special emphasis on chastity and the goodness of God's gift of sexuality.
