Integral FormationSM is the harmonious development of all dimensions of the human person. Gateway Academy guides students to realize their full potential, by focusing on the following four areas of formation:
HUMAN: The human person is more than a memory bank that requires input. Human formation focuses on forging integrity of character which is the true foundation of joy.
ACADEMIC: The academic program leads students to the highest level of intellectual formation. Throughout the curriculum, your child is challenged to exercise each facet of his intellect: analysis, synthesis, relation, and expression.
SPIRITUAL: The religion curriculum is centered on learning the Catholic faith in its fullness. The true fruit of knowledge of theology is based in a personal love for Jesus Christ. The study of the Christian faith is complemented by the encouragement of a life of grace through prayer, the sacraments and retreats suited to the student’s age.
APOSTOLIC: As followers of Christ, students at Gateway Academy are called to serve others; students participate in individual and group apostolic service program. Apostolic formation covers both the theory and practice of apostolic and especially the formation of an “apostolic heart”.
Why Gender Specific?
International studies and Catholic tradition consistently affirm the advantages of gender specific education. Students are challenged in a nurturing environment that best serves the specific learning styles of each gender, providing preparation for the finest college prepatory high schools. Our approach is modeled on over 150 institutions in thirteen countries, directed by the Legionaries of Christ. The benefits of gender specific education can be found in the articles below.
“Our four year old is eager to learn! Gateway’s preschool
program paves the way for Kindergarten reading and math readiness in a
nurturing and creative environment. The small class size affords our son
individual attention and time with the teacher.”
Gateway Academy Elementary School Parent:
“We chose Gateway based on the strength of the academic
program. What we got was so much more. Our children are blessed to
have the opportunity to learn and grow in their faith surrounded by faculty and
staff who share and respect our values.”
Gateway Academy Middle School Parent:
“The “Gateway Experience” is an exceptional one.
As a parent, it is a joy to see my daughter grow into a confident, caring,
considerate young adult. As a student, my daughter is academically
challenged by teachers who recognize her as an individual and nurture her
strengths. As a friend, my daughter is accepted and welcomed among her
peers for who she is as a person. Gateway has enabled my daughter to thrive in
a loving and academically challenging environment, while feeling good about
herself!”

“I continue to be impressed with the caliber
of students we have received from Gateway Academy. They have entered St.
Louis University High School well prepared for our college preparatory
curriculum. A good number have tested into advanced math and foreign
language classes. In addition, they possess a strong character, Catholic
values and are truly service oriented men for others. The preparation
they have received has allowed them to thrive in matters of faith, activity
involvement and academics at SLUH.”

Gateway Academy's Preschool Program combines the learning blocks of integral formation with Montessori methods for a unique program that cultivates the emotional, physical, academic and spiritual development of its students. Small class sizes and personalized attention foster a balanced atmosphere that is cheerful, nourishing and orderly. The classroom is filled with manipulatives and hands-on activities because learning at this age level is an up-close and tactile experience. The environment encourages young students to explore their own curiosities and challenges them to master language and math concepts. Children develop the love for learning and social skills which are the foundation for future success.
Elementary
The Elementary School is designed to integrally form your child through teaching and educating him and to nurture him in areas of his faith and character.
